I have only been fly fishing for about 4 years and the first fly box I originally purchased bit the dust recently. It was a cheap one so I decided I wanted something a little higher quality and found this box from Allen. Upon receiving it, I was immediately impressed with the quality of construction. After loading it up all my flies and using it a few days on the river, I really like it. It not only feels solid, but the clasps work very well (haven't checked for water-tightness), the plastic is thick and durable and I even like the foam that holds the flies in place. My only grievance is that these boxes are often out of stock (for obvious reasons) so if you want one, you need to check back regularly.

I must say that this is a great product. Superior in design and construction than other brands that cost much more.
When the time comes, I will be placing another fly box order

What fly fisher does not own a bunch of fly boxes. The problem with my old fly boxes is you have to open them up to see what's inside. These clear fly boxes from Allen Fly Fishing are the best and worth the money. I now have three of them in two sizes. Load them up with flies, and when you're thumbing through your tackle or vest or pack, you can easily see through the plastic cover what's inside. These are very well made and easy to use. I will probably buy some more later, since I can't seem to stop tying flies. :-) I only wish I could catch more fish. ;-)

Waterproof, floats, holds a ton of flies, and a couple of them will fit in most chest packs with room to spare...and at this price!!!! Almost too good to be true.

Best box for the money.

Received mine a couple of weeks ago. Already loaded it with my favorite flies. Have not had occasion to use it on the stream as yet, but the construction of the box is well considered and seems to be a durable product.
It is easy to open and of a size that is comfortable in hand.
It will take a bit of room in the vest but no more than other boxes of similar size will do. The hooks hold firmly in the foam pads and the flies are easy to remove without taking the whole row of flies when you do take one out.
My opinion is that barbless hooks work best in this type of box.
May buy another just for the spring mayflies and BWOs.
