Awesome little rod for smaller waters when overheard brush is a factor. The rod is very accurate and presents delicately. The action of this rod makes it a lot of fun to fish! I would recommend the ATS to anyone!

I would have to say that this rod for the price Allen sells it is an absolute steal. I have a standard 9' 5wt and it is an awesome rod. I really think it out performs any of my other 5wt rods. It casts like a rod that would cost you maybe twice as much. I really like the sleeve depth at each piece ensuring the rod will never come apart during a cast. Try one of these rods and you may never go back!!

I got a ATS 4 wt at 8'6" for local trout waters. The first day I used it it broke on the fourth cast. I figured it was manufacture defect so I emailed justin on a sunday thinking he would get back to me the next day, he emailed 5 minutes later saying he would send a new one the next day. Wow I was so suprized to get an email back that fast with no questons asked and recieved the new rod 3 days later. Have used it twice since with no problems and have landed a few fish. Great sevice and a beutiful rod at a great price. Thanks guys for such fast response and turnaround on the new rod. Love the way it handles the fish and great to cast. I will continue to do business with you guys.

After many years away from fly fishing, I felt the call again this year. After scanning the market to learn how About current fly rod construction, I purchased an ATS 7'3", 2wt rod and matching trout reel.
What a confidence builder this combo has been. Due to this superior equipment, I do believe I'm casting better now than when I fished regularly years ago. The action of this small rod is perfect for the stream that runs by my cabin.
I'm already looking at other Allen rods and reels to use in larger water.

I purchased a 6wt ATS rod back in May and would like to share my impressions since receiving the rod and being able to get out with it on several occasions. My first impression of the rod after taking it out of its rod case (has 4-way divider in case to keep the sections separate) was how nice the cork handle and reel-seat were for an entry level rod. It has a maple reel seat with double up-locking rings to keep your reel secure and a burled cork inlay at the top and bottom of handle which adds a nice touch, the cork is of good quality and the shape felt good in my hand. There is also a hook-keeper to hook your flies on, while traveling streamside. The rod pieces have alignment dots that match up nicely and when put together the sections fit nice and snug. The guides were all well placed and in line with the rods spine. On its own the rod feels light in the hand without being too tip heavy. After assembling the reel, spooled with the appropriate line weight, the rod balanced perfectly. The casting performance of the rod with the recommended line weight was great for short to medium length (20’ to 40’) casts and it had a pleasing moderate action. When I tried to cast at distances greater than about 45’ though, the rod seemed to be under a little stress and I lost some accuracy, but was still able to get 50’ to 60’ casts out while hauling. As a test, out of curiosity, I loaded the rod up with a 5wt line then put it through its paces and was quite impressed with the outcome. The rod seemed to handle the lighter line much easer at longer distances without undue stress up to 50’. Roll-casts and single hand spey casts were also easily accomplished in tight places with this rod, most likely due to its moderate action and worked best with the recommended line weight.
Bottom line on this rod…for the price you can’t go wrong! It is well built, has good looks, a nice pleasant feel in the hand, casts well to moderate fishing distances and it handled a carp that was 24” long very nicely. I would recommend this rod to anyone who is budget minded or who enjoys casting rods with a slower more traditional rod action.

I purchased a 9' 5wt. ATS rod for clients to use in my Still Water Clinics. I fished it myself for the first time last week and was amazed at how easily and smooth it cast. The medium action is soft and subtle but still has enough backbone to land large, hard fighting fish. It handled 18-20 inch Eastern Washington trout with ease. An excellent rod for the money.
