Description

The Heritage Series is the reward from years of development to blend a classic trout rod action with modern refinements. The mid flex has been fine-tuned to perfectly suit the modern angler. Cast small dries and nymphs with delicate presentation, protect fine tippet when the riser you were stalking turns out to be the pool boss, and discover its reserve power when more demanding casting situations arise. Presentation is king with the Heritage series, but the other aspects haven't taken the back seat. Flex and recovery pair perfectly with excellent balance. The American tradition of fly fishing for trout is alive and well with the Heritage Rod Series.

I am tough on rods and they give me good support

Overall I enjoy the rods I have three , unfortunately for me I am rough on them fishing canals and catching a lot of peacocks and have had all of them replaced and I have been a two piece 8 wt user all my life so I am learning you can’t do things with a 3 & 5 wt that you can with an 8, my advice is be careful with any 4 piece but if you need support the Allen Company has been there for me

I love the action of this rod. It is smooth and comfortable to cast. It is a nice looking rod. We will see if the durability is where it should be, the last one broke in the second section of the rod, never have seen that before. Excited to get it out and use it again.

    3 weight 7’ 6” rod

I bought this rod for small stream Brook Trout fishing the Appalachians. I was able to get in a few casts before a tuft of grass got caught during the back cast, and the front section snapped in two. Hoping this was a defect and not the standard rod durability. My 5 wt rod made by Allen is well built and I love it but this 3 wt did not hold up to normal field conditions.

    Allen Heritage 5wt

Published by Dave Keck on 21st Mar 2022

I had the opportunity to take my new Heritage 5wt flyrod fishing last week on the Henry's Fork of the Snake river. It is very smooth to cast and comfortable. It is a little heavier than I expected, but the ease of casting makes up for that. I love the looks and feel of the rod. Landed 4 fish with it and one went 22 inches. Very impressed, the only knock I have is the weight of the rod itself. But I like it in the fact that I will not have to worry about it snapping when I cast it. Nice Rod!! May look into the 10wt for some saltwater fishing down the road. Glad I purchased from Allen. Great company!
