Fly rods should be described by the feelings they evoke. Fast action. Low swing weight. Crisp recovery. Tight tracking. Attractive finish. Yeah, the Icon's got all of those. But it also has soul. It will put that silly grin on your face when you cast it. It's pure enjoyment wrapped in high modulus carbon, gripped with premium cork, and finished with the finest components. From close casts in tight quarters to long reaches for distant fish, freshwater to the salt, the Icon rises to the challenge. From high-sticking to swinging, mending to double-hauling, stripping in a small one or bent to the cork turning a monster, the Icon is a purpose-built precision tool. But that doesn't mean it can't be fun.

With all of our rods; if you receive the rod, and it's not for you, you can return the unused (plastic still on cork) for a full refund or exchange.
This is the weight of the complete, finished rod. Our weights may appear to be heavier than other manufacturers, but this is because we have chosen to give the weight of the rod as it arrives to you. This is not how many other brands classify their weights.

Recently took this rod (4wt) on an excursion into the NC mountains for 10 days. It fished like a dream with incredible feel and great touch, putting the line right where I was sending it for the deep runs and getting under the ledges in small creeks. Hook sets were fast and this rod really starts to shine when its fighting a 20" rainbow. Incredible rod that fished better than I could have imagined. Handed it to a local guide for a moment one day and he was so enamored I didn't think he'd give it back. Paired with an Allen reel I was certainly the weak link in the equation. Hat's off to Allen - I'll be coming back for more come Redfish season.

While I was trying to decide what rod to buy to go along with the Omega 3 reel I contacted A.J. several times asking for advice. Ultimately I selected the 9' 8 wt. Icon II. He was spot on when he said the Icon II is the sort of rod that, when you cast if for the first time, puts a grin on your face. He was right. Exceptionally nice rod that balances perfectly with the Omega 3 reel.
As with all things Allen: high quality, well made, and exceptional customer service. Thanks to all of the Allen team: Justin, Evan, A.J., and Kyle. Keep up the good work guys.

I had the pleasure of being set up across from the Allen booth at the Florida Sportsman Expo in September of this year. Getting to meet AJ and Justin and spend time with them was great. I got to cast the Icon II at the show and instantly fell in love with it. I cast the 7 and 8 wt rods and they were so light in the hand, it blew me away. I've cast many rods and put many different rods in the hands of clients. This is the rod I cannot wait to put in someone's hands in search of skinny water, winter time, Tampa Bay redfish. Pair a Kraken 3 with a 7 or 8 weight Icon II, and you have a premier redfish stalking outfit! Or better yet, a Kraken 2 with a saltwater 6 weight for those fish that belly crawl in 6" of water! Either way, congrats to all of us! The rod we've been waiting for is here!!

I received the Icon II as a warranty replacement for my broken Icon. Although I thoroughly enjoyed the original Icon the II is a whole mother level in speed, sensitivity, feel and fit and finish. By far the best rod that Allen has produced. Do yourself a favor and add at least one of these to your quiver.
