The Kraken fly reel series is the best value for the money in the industry. The predecessor to this reel already boasted a lightweight, fully machined package with an impressively smooth yet powerful drag. The large arbor and “U”-shaped spool is ideal for fighting large fish and for dealing with any runs into the backing. Improvements to the drag housing have eased access for reversibility while maintaining a full gasket seal. Ranging from size II to V, the Kraken fly reel series is capable of everything from small-stream trout fishing to adult tarpon and giant trevally, and available in a suite of colors from classic to eye-catching. It’s no wonder this reel series has quickly become our best seller: for the performance it provides, it should be twice the price!!

This reel is such a great complement to my Volant rod. Such a sweet setup at an economical price. I've let friends give it a try and they compare it to some of the best they've thrown.

I haven't bought a new reel in years (15) and I was pleasantly surprised at the changes. Though not a fan of the hub cap look, the large arbor is fast, the operation is smooth, and the drag is flawless. I have the 5-6 and although it is probably overkill, I have caught some 4 and 5 lb fish with it protecting 5x and 5.5x tippets. Nicer than my Hardy Princess.

This has to be one of the best values in fly reels. You could easily pay twice this and still be happy with the reel. I got a 3 for my 8wt for striper fishing and it is outstanding. Great backing capacity too

By far, the Kraken 2 is the nicest reel I own. I don't have a single complaint. Right out of the box, it just felt right. I knew I would love fishing with it and after a year, I still feel the same. The Kraken is much, much smoother than my Nautilus FWX, which cost twice as much. Even though I love my Orvis Hydros, my Lamson Velocity, and my inexpensive Scientific Angler reels, the Kraken is a stand-out.

Thinking one day about how good a Dorado would be on the Kraken reels, and what do you know, next week Allen sends out an email saying they're for sale for a short time!! I didn't hesitate for a second!!!!!
This is my sixth Allen reel, and my fourth Kraken!!! I'm sold on Allen reels. They're the only fly reels I own!
The finish, the quality of the product, and the service is fantastic!!
If Allen bring out some in red or blue, I think I'll be parting with some more cash!

I have two 5wt Kraken reels and one 7 wt Kraken wheel. They are superb. Landed multiple 10# browns and steelhead. The drag is flawless. You'll never own anything but a Kraken once you try it!!!

This reel gets it done. Smooth start up, picks line up nicely, looks great, and most importantly. . . Hangs onto Misouri River trout!

I've tried many reels, Einarsson, Nautilus, Loop, Redington, Shadow, etc. None do what the Kraken does, and the Kraken does it at a ridiculous price point. The reel is flawlessly machined and the drag is smooth and strong. I've thrown it on the California coastal corals and rocks fishing for rockfish, and the reel shows no scratches. The sealed drag has had no problems so far, and the drag housing is one serious piece of machinery.
Overall if you're thinking about getting this reel, get it. It's an amazing reel at an amazing price, and will hold up to whatever you throw at it. Thank you Allen Fly Fishing for great products at great prices!

Spent a long time searching for a good reel to pair with my 13 foot 7 weight Spey rod. My buddy suggested I take a look at Allen, and I'm glad I did. This reel balances perfectly on my Spey rod, and is a workhorse. I put it through hell over the summer, spending a lot of time swinging for steelhead on the deschutes. Every fish I hooked, the reel performed flawlessly. Extremely smooth drag start up. No problems with running line getting caught in the reel. Picks up line quick and smoothly. Not to mention the price to performance value. This thing performs as good if not better than reels twice the price, and looks good doing it. Considering ordering an extra spool for a single hand rod. So I can nymph the deeper pools on the smaller coastal streams in the winter. All in all I'm extreme satisfied and would highly recommend it to anyone.

I fought a ~25 pound Snook in Ascension Bay for 15 min with the fish taking me well into my backing a few times and the reel perform great. I would recommend this reel for any type fishing.
