    Soft Hackle Glass Emerger (07:00)
The Soft Hackle Glass Emerger is a quick/ easy tie and very effective mayfly emerger pattern. I generally fish this fly within the surface film or on the swing. The iridescent glass bead gives the illusion of an air bubble of an emerging fly and the fluoro fibre wing has an excellent UV light quality. I also tie this pattern with a light cahill thread to mimic a PMD or Light Cahill, as well as an olive brown thread to mimic a Blue Winged Olive. Tie some of them up and see for yourself. The Soft Hackle Glass Emerger is tied on an AFF N304 (straight-eye, 2x - short, reversed bend hook). This is my favorite hook that Allen Fly Fishing produces. It's thin wire and perfect reversed bend makes it a superior emerger hook. Check out their full line of hooks and beads by visiting www.allenflyfishing.com. 1. great alternative to the over-priced brands Rating

Posted by Nick in Pa. on 1st Mar 2016

Haven't fish with these yet but they are sharp. If they perform as well as other allen hooks they should be great. I just wish the eyes were a little bigger.

    2. as usual another good deal Rating

Posted by Nick in Pa. on 27th Feb 2016

I just tied some small emergers with this hook. I haven't fished them yet but if their like my other allen hooks they should do the job. My only complaint as with all allen hooks is that I wish the eyes were bigger, especially for us older fly guys.

    3. great for scuds and caddis larvae Rating

Very sharp and nice hook. Love tying scuds and caddis larvae with a bead head on these hooks. Haven't fished them yet but this spring and next fall should be fun.

    4. great steelhead hook Rating

Posted by neil sunday on 13th Nov 2015

I just spent 16 days steelhead fishing with these in the arsenal.. Fished nymph and egg patterns tied on this hook- never bent, broke or became dull. A great hook for tying large amounts of flies necessary when "digging up" pressured steelhead.

A very well-made, sharp hook, and now the foundation for a lot of my Tenkara flies.

    7. My Go-To Hook! Rating

Posted by neil sunday on 26th May 2015

Just recently started using the Allen hooks, and what a find! In Central Pennsylvania, dry-droppers are frequently the way we fish... Lots of caddis pupa, zebra midges and scuds under a dry fly. This hook is great! Landed many, many fish on a single fly this weekend- and these hooks hold!

    8. Very strong hook! Rating

They are one of the better hooks ever made!

    9. Stellar Rating

As a guide, I use these hooks to tie squirmey worms and eggs on. Solid, sharp hook. Keep up the great work
