The Trout II series has taken the best features of our ever popular original Trout Series, and improved on them in every way. The Trout II is fully machined from premium, aerospace quality barstock aluminum, and finished with corrosion and scratch resistant anodization. The dependable, proprietary, bearing-less disc drag system (patent pending) has been enclosed to be protected from damaging sediment and debris. It remains everything a trout and other light tackle fish angler could ever want, and more!
The Trout series features a unique, attractive spool and frame design with true large arbor dimensions. The large arbor assists in quicker line retrieve, and low line memory. Its ergonimically formed spool handle, easy left to right hand retrieve change, and simple drag adjustment rounds out its balance of function, fashion, and dependability!
Sizes offered are our 1 and 2, which cover a surprisingly wide range of line sizes and applications. Whether you're equipping your small stream, ultra-sensitive 3wt Icon, or your 5wt Olympic series rod, the Trout series will pair up perfectly! Includes protective neoprene pouch.
We will load your reel with backing and line for free! When you select backing and a line on the menus above, you will be charged a discounted price for both backing and line with no charge for putting it on the reel! Be sure to pick which direction you need the retrieve so that we load it up correctly for you!

I used my Orange Trout II on a recent trip to the Bighorn River, and it performed flawlessly. The line holding and design was beyond expectation.
That said, when I had originally ordered the reel, the service Allen had offered me was top notch and very personable. I will be doing a lot more business here in the future.

Got my Trout 2 last week. 4 stars as of now as i have not used it yet. I expect to crank it to 5 stars after some real world use. Beautifully manufactured reel (burnt orange) . Service from Allen was great and shipping fast and reasonable price. So impressed that i just ordered a Kraken 5 last night online and it was shipped today. Service like that and a great product will keep me as a customer.

I agree with the other reviewers. The reel is very smooth and is beautifully finished. I also bought the line and it looks that it is somewhat tight when the line is reeled in, but that is not a problem with the reel. I am becoming a big fan of Allen Fly fishing and I am following up closely the new products that they are releasing.

What a great value. I own several reels from other companies ( Orvis, Hardy, Ross, Teton and Abel) and the Allen reel is as good as any.
I bought the Trout II in burnt orange and it is great and matches my rod blank and wrappings really well. The drag on the reel is exceptional . Working with customer service is top shelf too; I received my first order w/o the backing and line that I ordered. One phone call and a replacement reel with backing and line was received the next day.

Can't go wrong when buying an Allen. I bought this reel to pair it with a Ross Flystick I just purchased for peacock bass in here in South Florida. Amazing reel, I'm so impressed with this that I'm going to buy a Kraken for my 8wt and use it for redfish and bones.

Love this anodized green reel. Has a smooth drag worthy of twice its price. This model, along with my ATS and Alpha reels, have sold me for life on Allen Reels and their other products. For the money, they cannot be beat. A1 customer service also which is #1 in my book. IMO you will not be disappointed in selecting a Trout II or any of their other models that may fit your needs.

It's funny, I never looked at Allen Fly Fishing until last week. I figured like all the rest of the companys out there that thier reels would be $400 to $600. I fish 205+ days per year and am hard on my equipment as far as use. That is to steep a price to pay for a single reel. I received my Allen Fly Fishing Trout II #1 a couple days ago and put it right to the test. I caught 50 browns, 6 rainbows,1 sucker over 3 days and I could not be happier with this purchase. Fit and finish, quality materials and a great drag (got to test it on that 5lb tail hooked sucker on a 3wt with a 5x tippet). I will be purchasing Allen Fly Fishing reels from here on out. Get yourself one, I promise you won't be dissapointed. Cheers -Carp

From the beginning, I was attracted to the humble price of the Allen line of reels.
Then after purchasing my first, i was sold for good!!
Allen has found the perfect balance of high performance and good looks, coupled with, great value.
This reel follows the same mold of all the rest!
Allen has a lifelong customer in me

I love the drag and that this reel is constructed well. So impressed with the quality and price as compared to other aluminum core produced reels I bought. No wobble on the spool.
