The Trout II series has taken the best features of our ever popular original Trout Series, and improved on them in every way. The Trout II is fully machined from premium, aerospace-quality barstock aluminum, and finished with corrosion and scratch resistant anodization. The dependable, proprietary, bearing-less disc drag system (patent pending) has been enclosed to be protected from damaging sediment and debris. It remains everything a trout and other light tackle fish angler could ever want, and more!
The Trout series features a unique, attractive spool and frame design with true large arbor dimensions. The large arbor assists in quicker line retrieve, and low line memory. Its ergonimically formed spool handle, easy left to right hand retrieve change, and simple drag adjustment rounds out its balance of function, fashion, and dependability!
Sizes offered are our 1 and 2, which cover a surprisingly wide range of line sizes and applications. Whether you're equipping your small stream, ultra-sensitive 3wt Icon, or your 5wt Volant streamer setup, the Trout series will pair up perfectly! Includes protective neoprene pouch.

I was not expecting to much from this reel. I figured being so inexpensive it would have a so so performance. I have been very impressed with the trout 2 reel. Mine is a #2 on my 6 weight aetos rod the pair is excellent. The drag is very smooth, and has stopping power. The only thing that could make this reel any better in my opinion would to be able to add 50+ yards more of backing. Although a fish has not pulled all of my backing out yet o have come very close. I fish for quite a bit of species, but for this reel/rod combo i mainly target steelhead, lake trout, and salmon. For the quality of their products Allen fly fishing has earned a lifetime customer.

The reel is great! Currently using it for RB, BR, Smallmouth, and Largemouth. Has performed exceptionally with all. The color selection is a bonus too! You can pick and chose from a bunch of color combinations. This reel is just as nice, smooth, and well-built as my Cheeky, Sage, or Orvis. The only negative thing is that I wish it was interchangeable. Definitely wouldn't be a deal breaker but would be a nice addition. THANKS ALLEN!!!!! Next up is a Kraken for my inshore saltwater needs.

This reel looks fantastic. Left to right retrieve is so easy. Holds a WF6 and plenty of backing. The drag is nice and smooth with fine adjustment. Price wise it is a bargain.

My first Trout series reel from Allen after purchasing several Kracken (and XLA) models. As expected, the reel is very well made, has an excellent drag system, and is available at an outstanding price/value point. Recently spent some time with it on the South Fork in ID and Flat Creek in WY and it handled the large cutties with ease. Matched up with a Hardy Zenith 5 wt is a great combo!

I have found the Trout II to be a versatile reel , the specs allow for a range of lines from the common WF/DT to the thicker head & body lines for single hand Spey and the longer 110' + lines for distance. The weight fits from a 904 to 906. The design makes changing spools in field easy and the drag is more than capable , you can always palm the rim if required. Cosmetics are an individual taste , I think the reel is one of the best looking on the market. The open spool design allows backing and line to dry , the drag is the right size and adjustment range is excellent and smooth. The drag , although not sealed/water tight ( there are pro/cons on this) will keep debris out and that is what really matters. If you are a practical buyer , want a quality reel and cover future rod/line needs , the Trout II is a solid investment.

Got a black spool to use with my green reel; looks great and makes it easy to choose between lines; will test it on the Jefferson River in Montana tomorrow

This reel (I have the Burnt Orange) is a workhorse. Not only is it beautiful to look at, but it performs flawlessly when it counts--strong currents and working fish around big boulders. The drag is incredibly smooth and easy to adjust on the fly. I would put this up against any of the reels that I have paid 3x as much for.

Simply put, after fishing with Sage, TFO, & other high end reels, then fishing Allen Fly reels, I will never waist my money ever again! I'm currently in the process of changing all my gear to Allen!

I recently purchased and received a Pink Trout II for a custom rod that I built for a lady friend. The real was a perfect match for the Casting for the Cure rod which is a black Rainshadow blank, Pink Wraps and pink feather inlays and to top it off the reel was loaded with Pink Rio Dry Line.... Now comes the practice and the fishing with this new combination for a beginner fly caster.... The quality of the reel is what I have become to expect of Allen reels.
