The Trout II series has taken the best features of our ever popular original Trout Series, and improved on them in every way. The Trout II is fully machined from premium, aerospace quality barstock aluminum, and finished with corrosion and scratch resistant anodization. The dependable, proprietary, bearing-less disc drag system (patent pending) has been enclosed to be protected from damaging sediment and debris. It remains everything a trout and other light tackle fish angler could ever want, and more!
The Trout series features a unique, attractive spool and frame design with true large arbor dimensions. The large arbor assists in quicker line retrieve, and low line memory. Its ergonimically formed spool handle, easy left to right hand retrieve change, and simple drag adjustment rounds out its balance of function, fashion, and dependability!
Sizes offered are our 1 and 2, which cover a surprisingly wide range of line sizes and applications. Whether you're equipping your small stream, ultra-sensitive 3wt Icon, or your 5wt Olympic series rod, the Trout series will pair up perfectly! Includes protective neoprene pouch.
We will load your reel with backing and line for free! When you select backing and a line on the menus above, you will be charged a discounted price for both backing and line with no charge for putting it on the reel! Be sure to pick which direction you need the retrieve so that we load it up correctly for you!

If your thinking about buying this reel, quit thinking and buy it! Great drag, extremely smooth, and looks great. Put this reel on my 7 1/2' 3wt rod and have not been disappointed at all! Fished the hell out of it this year, and will be buying more for other rods in the future. Every bit as good as my orvis reel that I paid 3x as much for.

Once you pick up your jaw from starring at this sexy reel you will find out that it is a smooth operator. Just by holding the reel you can tell that it is solid as a rock and machined to perfection. It has a reel smooth drag and is a perfect mach for my 4wt Winston Passport. I could't be more happier and who ever decides to purchase this reel will fall in love instantly. Kudos to Allen Fly Fishing for such an awsome product, I can't wait to try your other products. The only complaint, if you want to call it a conplaint, is you need to add some rod and reel holders to you product catalog.

I promised myself (and my wife) that I wouldn't buy an Allen until I felt I was worthy. Seeing how my skills have progressed little over the past year, and that I will probably never be worthy of an Allen, I tossed all that crap aside and went ahead and ordered a Trout II anyway.
What an absolutely lovely piece of machinery! It is beautifully designed and obviously rugged, yet shows fine attention to detail. The reel is gunmetal gray and, teamed with a 5wt Heritage rod in deep brown, the combination looks so good that I left it lying on our grand piano for a while as a piece of art.
Haven't yet taken any big fish to test the drag or retrieve under pressure, but.....dang! Do I look good!
PS: Awesome customer service. I really like these guys.

Purchased Trout II size 1 for 3wt Icon. What a great reel! The build is perfect and the drag performs flawlessly. The reel is smooth and well balanced with no loose play in the spool. The drag works great even with small tippets. I like the range of adjustment in the drag. When you adjust its tension it does so gradually, it doesn't change drastically with a small turn of the knob as some other reels. First day in use landed multiple fish in fast riffles with 7x tippet on the point fly. Buy this reel, you will be happy you did.

I ordered this reel to go with the Heritage 3wt rod for backcountry hiking and fishing. I spent time researching other outfits and after reading the reviews on this reel and Allen. I am glad I did the reel is a gem. I can't wait to get it out on my next trip.

Bought the Trout II reel for a 4 wt rod I had recently gotten as a gift. This thing is sweet. Beautiful orange anodizing, very well balanced with an 8'6" rod and the drag is super smooth and sounds great when that Rainbow took her for her maiden voyage. Definitely feels like a much more expensive reel. You won't be disappointed.

You'll be hard-pressed to find more for your dollar than what you're getting from the Trout II reel. The weight is great, looks are great, drag is smooth/trouble-free and sealed to boot! I gave it a good workout during a recent, 4-day Utah fishing trip and it performed perfectly and larger, stillwater rainbows. I am very pleased with the purchase and would recommend it to anyone.

I recently bought the Trout II series reel and tried it out on a trip to NM. The reel was excellent. I highly recommend one. You will not be disappointed.
