I just finished a custom 6 wt build for a friend in Alaska who is a fire fighter and the rod is wrapped in red, black and red metallic, fire department colors and this red reel is amazing combo with the rod. The quality is as I have grown to expect from Allen, excellent. I continue to recommend Allen reels to many of my fishing buddies.....

These are among the best freshwater reels made, regardless of the price. Machined aluminium, smooth drag, solid spool attachment, and extremely high quality. I landed a tail hooked 42 inch grass carp with 6 lb. test tippet This was a real test for the drag as the fish took me halfway into the backing and towed my boat about a quarter of a mile down the lake. These are superb reels!

The quality motivated me to buy the larger reel for Alaska.

I have had one of the first allen reels ...the Alpha and one of the first Trouts and the newest version is amazing. For the money I won't be buying anything else for my trout setups.

I used the trout two in three weight size for my 10' three weight nymphing rod. It was a great match. Fished the Ausable river in the Adirondacks in late fall. Performed flawlessly to handle every fish, from the 10 inch brook trout to the 18" rainbow. Smooth drag.

purchased this reel to replace a cheap budget real for my 3wt rig. Couldn't be happier with the fit and finish. Quality control is out of this world. $140 price Tag for $300 quality ....easy. certainly won't be the last Allen product I buy, for sure.

I own at least 1 of almost every reel in the Allen lineup but this Trout II is what kicked off my obsession. I have netted more big river trout (20"+) on this reel than anything else. Smooth drag and amazing control. As many may know, one of the hardest things to do is land a monster brown when you are by yourself on the river. The other day, I had a banner day on the Truckee and managed 4 big browns in a row, all over 20"'s. It was a day I won't soon forget and I landed those fish on my own ONLY because of the control I had with the Trout II. Any lesser reel, and I would have lost a couple, if not all. It gave me supreme confidence, even as a beginning angler. After realizing the quality of this reel, I came back here and purchased another Trout II for stillwater. Over time now, I have acquired the ATS, Kraken, and Kraken XLA reels. All preform exceptionally well. I can confidently and proudly say I am a loyal Allen customer now. I don't even use any other brand reels when fishing rivers or stillwater and even the famed Pyramid Lake where 15+lb cutthroat are the norm these days. Allen gets my personal seal of approval as the best quality reels and most outstanding customer service. They have a customer for life!!!

Couldn't be happier with my TroutII. I bought it to replace a cheap cast Cabelas reel that was heavier than a brick and performed like one as well. Matched it up to my LS6 3Wt and I couldn't believe at the performance. Looks awesome, works even better. Cant say enough about this reel. I will be CERTAIN to purchase a Kraken when Im ready to build my 9WT digs.

After hearing about Allen reels from friends, I decided to give the Allen reel a try. Now I know why they speak so highly and enthusiastically about these reels.
The ease of spool changing, lightweight feel, and solid craftsmanship won me over.
Give them a try, you won't be disappointed.
