Description

The Compass series began as a way to get people even more affordably into the Allen brand. Now, with this most recent release, the Compass brings solid performance and head-turning looks to a very affordable price point. The medium fast taper excels at distance and handles heavy loads exceptionally. The improved grip is now more durable, while the larger guides not only make stringing up the rod easier, but allow for loop-to-loop connections and backing knots to pass through more fluidly. As far as line pairings go, the Compass is ideally suited to lines like our Force Taper, as the short head on the line brings out the best in the rod. Let the Compass guide you to your next on-the-water successes!

    Compass medium fast 8 WT

Works really well for saltwater fishing. I found that a bullet nose fly line casts really smooth.

8wt Compass has performed nicely casting big streamers with weighted line on larger rivers.

    Compass 6 weight

Published by jerry white on 18th Oct 2020

The Compass 6 weight is heavier than the previous two 6 weight rods I've been using for small mouth bass. It still catches fish. Maybe with a heavier reel might make it more balanced. Other than the weight I have no issues. I only bought this because my 6 weight rod I've been using broke and the 2 for 1 deal was exceptional at the time.

Great Product at a Great Price

I picked up an 8 wt Compass on the recent BOGO along with a Heritage 3 wt. I haven not fished the rod yet, but it is beautiful. The balance and the workmanship are great. Now if that steelhead trip would just materialize.....

    Compass fly rod

Published by Andrew Marshall on 8th May 2020

By far one of the best rods I have ever owned. Coupled with a matching reel and line, my casting has improved significantly. I use it for light salt-water salmon/sea-run trout and it is always windy. This rod has what it takes to cast into the wind and get my flies out there where I want them.

Compass Rod is a great value

Published by JEREMY LEE on 9th Mar 2020

Just started fly fishing and this is a great casting rod. Was struggling to cast a fast action rod, so I decided to try this Med-Fast action. Wow, what a difference it made for me. Could feel the rod loading and was finally able to make some decent casts. Components feel solid and would definitely recommend for beginners, as well as everyone else.

    Landing Bigger Fish

Published by Doug Nunnelly on 28th Feb 2020

While I am not the most experienced fisherman, I do have a nice selection of rods. I gave this rod 5 stars based on value. Price is right, casting is good and it seems to make my landing of bigger fish more manageable. Can’t ask for more than that!

Compass Rod is a great value

Published by JEREMY on 24th Feb 2020

I'm a beginner at fly fishing and was struggling to cast when using a fast action rod. Decided to give this rod a try since it's a slower action and pricing was good. I received the rod and it looked well built and I couldn't wait to give it a try. Wow, what a difference it has made for me. The slightly slower action is more forgiving for a novice caster and has made casting a lot more enjoyable. I plan to use this rod as my primary rod and am very happy with this purchase. Great rod for the money!
