Now, we've shifted the drag material to a carbon multi-disc system to improve durability and top-end drag pressure. The sealed drag is ready for any environment, while still remaining easy to reverse if necessary without any additional tools. The Kraken series still boasts a U-shaped spool for both line capacity and ease of line pick-up, while now benefiting from stronger and still super-smooth performance across the full range of target species. I have several of the Kraken fly rees in 5, 6 and 7 weights. Quality construction, smooth drag. Overall an excellent reel and a great value.

Kraken size 3
Reel is beautiful in color and design. Incredibly smooth drag and has had zero problems in the salt. I tested the drag on a few reds and snook, the reel preformed flawlessly. Will by purchasing another one for my 10wt. At this price point, the quality of the kraken is unmatched. Do yourself a favor and pick one up.

I like this
Have not had big fish to test drag due to the surf being overhead but I like how it feels. Wish the clicks were louder and maybe a retrieve click but I might not want that. Balances my 10wt just fine. Now I just need to put some nice bluefin trevally or some gt on it.

I used the reel in saltwater and have 3 others that I've used in saltwater and have never had a problem with the reels .

Excellent reel , by far my favorite, I own a alpha and kraken in size 4 , both have great drag but prefer the kraken due to the click when u reel in is a lil quieter than the alpha ....love all my allen gear really.... want the purple kraken too Soon

I’ve been very happy with the Kraken I purchased several years ago. I expect to be just as satisfied with the new Kraken. Unfortunately it will be awhile before I will have the opportunity to fish it.
