S403 - Nymph, Streamer, 3XL Hook

I've ordered these several times, always found them to be good hooks - never a bad one, very sharp and strong enough for steelhead.

I got the size 12, 3XL hook for small streamers-closers & other small baitfish flies. It's strong and works great!

I got the 3XL nymph, streamer hooks in sizes 12 & 14. I like them for making bigger nymphs and small baitfish, crawfish, and wooly bugger flies for sunfish and bass . They work well in the rivers I fish in the Texas Hill Country.

Everybody was out of TMC 5263 in #12. Buddy of mine told me to try these. I did and they are pretty much identical. Made in Korea which is a capitalist ally instead of communist China. I have and I will buy more.

Tied up a few Simi Seal leeches; mashed the barb in the vise and the entire bend snapped off. I was more gentle with subsequent hooks but concerned whether they would hold up to the fish. They’ve tested out well! Several fish landed with easy hook sets. I love the shaft length for leeches.

I tie Chernobyles and mohair leeches with these hooks and they work very well. They have just the right shank length and are stronger than other hooks I have used especially when fishing close to the bottom where there are snags.

My choice for tying Wooly buggers and other streamers. Allen Flyfishing is great to deal with, prices are good and the quality of the hooks is the best!
