Quality of these hooks are second to none. Pricing on these hooks, on sale, can't be beat. Fast delivery and NC shipping ... what more can I say! Looking forward to using them to tie classic salmon flies, this Winter, when I stop going to the river.
I use these hooks when tying "Classic Salmon" flies that I frame. I have also on occasion used these hook when chasing salmon and they were more than adequate for the task.
Excellent hooks for the price. Quality can be compared to other "name brand" hooks, but the price can't be beat! They also seem to be very sharp. Can't wait to test them out this spring on some Great Lakes Steelhead.
These hooks are great. Super sharp and top notch quality. I highly recommend them.
I like the style, the strength and the sharpness of these hooks.
First time purchase. Have been tying Bunny Speys. Too bad we don't have steelhead I Western Missouri.
all products exceeded expectations.....prompt delivery......you got me hooked......jim marando
These hooks are top of the line and very strong. I compared them to some hooks I have that cost 2-3x what I paid for the Allen hooks. Ended up with Sizes 8 and 6. I will go back soon for some additional sizes as well. Great to tie on and very sturdy. I have used them to land quite a few fish this winter, including some large Lake Ontario Browns and Steelheads..
purchased size 8 and 10 hooks to tie flies (Otters Milking Eggs). The size 8 seems just right for the 8mm eggs, although I have not tested them yet for strength. I've caught over 50 of these fish (all over 20 #) and they appear to be strong enough. The smaller size 10 seem just right for fishing below pegged eggs of the same size. I would highly recommend them. I also like the fact that they slightly bend sideways, which is expecially important in the hookset.
Seems like plenty strong to pull in the 25-30-pound king salmon from Pulaski NY.
