Cinnamon Toast Ant (07:12)
The Cinnamon Toast Ant is a very easy tie and a productive terrestrial pattern for the summer and fall months. I am using an AFF D102BL hook (down-eye, standard shank, wide gap dry fly hook). Again, Allen Fly Fishing continues to create excellent hooks at an excellent price. Check them out at www.allenflyfishing.com. Present this pattern to cruising fish around the banks of your local rivers or lakes. Try tying them using different colors of dubbing, such as black, mahogany and brownTo view RK's Fly Design complete fly collectionVisit www.facebook.com/RKsFlyDesign

  1. Barbless hooks

Posted by Geoff LeClair on 28th Oct 2014

I was looking for a barbless competition hook with a longer hook point or up-turned point similar to some of the Hanak hooks. I ordered these on a recommendation from A.J, and at first glance I like the look of the hooks. My only consideration is that I wish they were a little heavier wire. Understandably, they are a dry fly hook, and not a wet fly hook. Regardless I think they will fish well, and will have added sticking power with the slightly upturned hook point.

Reply - Justin (Allen), Thanks Geoff for the review. Yes, the D102BL is a great dry fly hook. We recently been asked to make these in a heavier wire as well. This is something that we are going to work on. Thanks again - Justin

  2. Blue Gill Or Carp

This is one tuff sharp hook that won't dissapoint you.

  3. one thing to make them better:

Posted by Peripatetic Fly Fisher on 20th Oct 2014

I really like these hooks - excellent in every way. One feature that would make them better would be some more size options (specifically, sizes 18 and 20 would be nice, and perhaps an 8).

reply - Justin (Allen) Thanks for the feedback. This was a new hook for us. Now, that it has grown in demand we will start looking in to other sizes. Thanks - Justin

  4. Go to hook

This hook is becoming my go to hook for my general dry flies.

  5. Great Hooks

Great wide gap sharp hooks. Used them to tie Elk Hair Peacock Caddis for a recent swap. Turned out really nice.

  6. my all time favorite hooks

Posted by Ryan on 14th Sep 2014

A great product. I fish soft hackles exclusively and have used a lot of different brands and styles. I came across these hooks recently and must say these are by far my favorite. Great quality and price. Hooks are strong and haven't found one bad one yet. Highly recommended and also great service from Allen.

  7. Great Hooks!

Nice hooks. Used them on my last fly swap.

  8. Perfect

Wide gap, barbless. Cannt beat that with a board with a nail in it.

  9. Best barbless hooks out there.

Posted by Clark Pierce on 10th Mar 2014

I go through thousands of hooks a year, and this hook has become my go-to for dry flies. The hook is extremely sharp, and retains fish really well due to it's slightly curved point.

I get asked all the time if this hook holds up against some of the higher end barbless hooks out there. fact is... It's better.

  10. Great Barbless Hooks
