Fly Tying: Griffith's Gnat (Including original, high-visibility, and variations) (20:50)
Tied during this tutorial is the Griffith's Gnat, a pattern meant to represent many insects, though mainly (and specifically) a midge cluster. Create by one of the founders of Trout Unlimited, George Griffith, this fly is an excellent pattern to carry in the spring and summer. Featured in this tutorial are the D101BL hooks by Allen Fly Fishing (http://www.allenflyfishing.com/d101bl-standard-dry-fly-barbless/). Aside from the original pattern, this video also features a high-visibility Griffith's Gnat, plus a number of other variations tied with ostrich herl. An amazing hook at a great price
Being barb less is definitely the way to go and these hooks hold really well on an 18lb Brown trout here in NZ

Still got my hopes for one of the 30+lb in Tekapo Canals but that will have to wait - I'm sure the hook will cope just as well

  3. One word, OUTSTANDING

These barbless hooks rival those produced by other big name hook companies today. You can't beat the price and the free shipping, rediculous!! I know I am a customer for life and am looking forward to additional Allen barbless hooks. Great job folks!

I tied the size 14 barbless into a red Copper John. I just returned from a trip to the Trinity River and both the hook and fly outperformed anything else I had. I even landed this 30-35 pound King Salmon with the hook and 6 pound line on the fly rod!
I'm really enjoying tying on the new barbless hooks and can't wait for you to come out with more!
