Allen has good hooks at fair prices. Maybe not the very best, but better than all but a few in smaller sizes-- 18 to 22.

Thanks to Tim from "Trout & Feather" this is the best hook I've tried for the Black Ghost. Has great action in the water...a sure thing on the stocked fish. Must have for opening day........ HE

They fit exactly into the flies which I plan to use them.

I have bought a few packs of these for hoppers, but always find the gap to be very inconsistent from hook to hook. The size of the gap compared to the length of the shank is small, and from the bulk of most hopper patterns results and missed hook-ups. I prefer to use these for larger nymphs like crane-flies and stones. Update: 5/19/15 Hi Andrew, we have made several updates to this hook. I'd like to send you new hooks to try out. This is really a cool hook to tie some great looking stonefly nymphs and hoppers on. It is sharp! At first I was a little concerned because it has a bit more flex than the standard shaped nymph hooks. All in all it should be plenty strong enough, I will be testing it this spring on some steelhead.

The Allen N201 Curved Nymph hook has a great style and shape for tying all sorts of Nymphs and some top water flys. I love the way it works with biot stone fly nymphs and salmon fly nymphs. It also works great for a long body scud of any size.
