I have used Mustad 9671 hooks for years but have trouble finding them or anything similar for even close to a reasonable price. Found these hooks from Allen, W501, and they are a great value, about half what I've been paying for similar hooks elsewhere. The only thing I found that seemed a little off was that the Allen size 8 hook I purchased has the same hook gap as a size 10 Mustad 9671. I like larger hook gaps for the pan fish flies I tye, I catch a lot of crappie, bass and catfish on the flies, and the larger hook gap helps set the hook on these fish. I bought 100 size 8 and 100 size 6 so I have the 6's but would like this hook in a size 4. Very good value though and I have already caught well over 100 crappie on flies tyed on these hooks.
