The Heritage Series is the reward from years of development to blend a classic trout rod action with modern refinements. The mid flex has been fine-tuned to perfectly suit the modern angler. Cast small dries and nymphs with delicate presentation, protect fine tippet when the riser you were stalking turns out to be the pool boss, and discover its reserve power when more demanding casting situations arise. Presentation is king with the Heritage series, but the other aspects haven't taken the back seat. Flex and recovery pair perfectly with excellent balance. The American tradition of fly fishing for trout is alive and well with the Heritage Rod Series.

Was very pleased once I assembled it all with the small reel I also bought. Cast sweetly and as far as my 7 wt set up with less effort.
You do not actually feel its weight in your hands its so light.

    Favorite Rod

Published by Wendi on 27th Mar 2015

I picked up the 4wt last month and couldn't be happier with it. It is now my favorite rod in my arsenal, and I couldn't be happier with the purchase. The fine folks at Allen have really nailed it with this one, and for an affordable price to boot!
Hooked into some beautiful Yakima River rainbows with it last week and it was the perfect rod for the job.
    Keep it up guys!

    My favorite creek rod

Published by Brent Larson on 23rd Nov 2014

Got a 3wt 7'6". I have a 5wt z-axis and my buddy has a Winston biix and we use this for a dry fly rod when switching off rowing. We both love casting this rod with small drys, even some bigger flies. It's buttery smooth and works perfect for smaller rivers and even better for creeks with tight casting.

    What a Warranty Upgrade!

Published by Ken Ludwig on 4th Jul 2014

I broke the tip section off a previous purchase which had been discontinued a few years back. The staff at Allen upgraded me to the same weight and length I had before at no extra cost to me. That spells Customer Service with a Capitol C!

    Allen Rods and Reels

Published by Joe Howley on 24th Jun 2014

I recently broke the tip of my 4 year old Trout series rod from Allen while fishing the Fryin Pan river in Colorado. I was heart broken as that rod had made me a better fisherman. I immediately got on line to find that the series was discontinued. I ordered the comparable rod in the Heritage series and had it in 4 days. Equally as happy.

Since the Trout Series was discontinued, Allen offered me a comparable replacement after I had bought the new Heritage 4 wt. I could not believe the offer so I got the 7' 6" 3 weight. Now I have 2 new fantastic rods from the the great folks at Allen.

    A pleasure to fish

I bought this 5wt as a spare for a trip to the San Juan last week. I fell in love with it and its proven itself over and over on many 14-22 inch fish over the the past 2 weeks. Its become my favorite Streamer and Nymphing rod. Highly recommend it!

    Sweet rod!

Published by Michael on 21st Jun 2014

I purchased this rod specifically for hiking/backpacking and backcountry fishing. The 3wt, 4 pc rod paired nicely with the Trout II reel. I have searching and comparing similar set-ups ( LL Bean pocket water and Orvis Superfine) at 6'6 they were what I was leaning towards that is until I discovered Allen while browsing the web. I was considering an Icon rod but felt it was than I wanted to invest for a backcountry rod set-up. Until the Heritage came out this year. At a price better than the Orvis and a better quality than the Bean. I can't wait until my next trip to check it out. My only comment, is the rod case. It is decent quality but a one size fits most rods case, understandable for a small company like Allen. But it is going to be too long strapped to a pack. I found a solution with a Bean compact rod tubethstbthe rod will fit perfectly in. I also stitched a rod sock out of some remnant fabric and. Cut some pads for the ends of the tube/ cap from a can "coozie". Oh yeah, the Allen decal that came with the reel covers the Bean logo perfectly. Otherwise I would have rated this rod with a 5! Great job! I will comment on the reel separately. Hopefully after I get out and play!

    The Best

Published by Donald Peifer (Christ Servant Minister) on 21st Jun 2014

I have been fly fishing for 57 years and have used many different fly rods.
I have used Orvis rods and I have many Sage fly rods including Sage 1 fly rods. When I go fishing now I use my Heritage fly rods, they are absolutely the best rods I have ever used.
I have the 3 wt, 4 wt, 5 wt, and 6 wt. These fly rods would be reasonably
priced even if they were twice the price.
I will never pay $800 again for a Sage or Orvis, these rods are just as good if not better.

I love my Allen 4 weight

Published by Bill Brendel on 7th Jun 2014

My Allen 4 weight Heritage Series is one of the best rods I have ever owned. It has beautiful workmanship and handles smoothly in casting. The delicate action of the tip allows me to play large fish with no break-offs using 7x tippet. It's truly a great rod at a reasonable price and I'm glad I now own one. Last but not least I found the service Allen gives to be exceptional. They really stand behind their products.
