Description

The Source Fly Rod series is designed not only to help brand new casters develop effective casting skills, but also to help experienced casters have a more enjoyable time on the water. Rather than artificially concealing errors, the deeper flex of the Source series helps anglers pinpoint the load of the rod, no matter the line type or fly pattern. It maintains plenty of backbone for a full range of applications and species without feeling like a broomstick. Let this rod series lead you to the Source!

    Source Rod Review

Published by Samuel Schell on 9th Apr 2021

This is a first impression review. I purchased the 8wt and 5wt in these rod series. These are nice rods for the price range, they look descent, and fell good. I love the fact that they marked each fitting end with a white mark to help you line them up. Not many rods in that price range come with that. The handle on the 8wt feels too fat and bulky for my taste, but that's just personal preference. Other then that, I had to smile when i tested them on my lawn. They load up super smooth and just feel really good when casting.
They are pretty soft, so for windy conditions, they'd be a little out guned I'd say.
Can't wait to take them on the water, and test them on some fish!

    Source Rods 5 + 8 wt

Published by Bob on 6th Apr 2021

I'm new to Fly Fishing but I do have a lot of spinning experience, fresh and salt, so I believe I can make an informed opinion on rods. From what I can see the fit and finish of the of both rods is top notch. The wraps are well sealed, stripping guide inserts nice and smooth, no nicks like I have found on comparable priced ones. I especially like the composite cork parts on the 8wt. Right on the wear and tear place of the grip. The seat is anodized for the occasional salt trip and double locking rings. The alignment dots on the ferrules is a nice touch, again not always found on entry level equipment. The balance and flex feels good with my old ( cheap) reel but I am not the expert yet. And the best for last, I got them both on Allen's BOGO sale. That's a deal you can't pass up. Looking forward to when the ATS reels come back in stock for a match up. Thanks again

    Superb

Published by Jeremy on 3rd Apr 2021

So admittedly I have many, many, high end rods including 8 Loomis Asquith's. My wife and I are heading to Cuba in 6 weeks and I thought that grabbing a couple "less expensive" 8 weights wouldn't be a bad idea. I ordered two 8wt Source's last week and they showed up this morning. I just threw a reel on and went casting and to say I'm completely blown away would be an understatement. When I first took them out of the tube I was shocked at the fit and finish of this rod for the price. Then when I went casting the shock continued. How is a rod this cheap THIS GOOD? Allen knocked it out of the park with this and this will be my GO TO recommendation for anyone looking to get into the sport without spending a ton of money or just looking for an all around awesome rod. This was my first time buying from Allen and certainly will not be my last. Incredible job guys, and fantastic product!

    5wt / 8wt

I bought both the 5wt and 8wt. They handle great.
5wt has a fast action and is very delicate but strong.
The 8wt has a medium action and can launch big flies. But still flexible enough to mend line neatly.
