Product Description
The Volant Rod Series is a worthy successor to our ever-popular XA series of rods. It channels the medium-fast action of the XA with some improvements to create an even more refined multi-purpose series. From small creeks to offshore saltwater, the Volant series will get the job done, and do it extremely well. The series is built around versatility and durability without sacrificing finesse and presentation. The goal for the series is presentation, power, and accuracy in perfect balance, so not only can you put the fly on target, but you can effectively fight the hooked fish too. Each model was designed to suit its ideal fisheries: the 4-weight is dialed in on small stream and stillwater, while the 12-weight is built with the power to handle whatever the saltwater flats and blue water brings up for you.

WOW! Great Rod
Bought a couple of these rods for a trip I was taking to Montana. Fished several rivers and the rod was fantastic! Good action and will cast a mile (if that's your thing). I landed a nice 22" brownie on a sow bug, and the rod never failed. Put good tension and played the fish well on its runs. I paired it with a Trout II reel and it worked great. If I had to do it again I think I'd go with an 2x oversized reel, but that's a personal preference of mine I do on my rods for better weight distribution. Highly recommend this rod, especially if you're new and trying to results from proper casting fundamentals.

Real nice action
I was amazed at the price since I am a VIP member. Couldn't believe how fast the shipping was to Canada. I went and used my rod the first weekend and went to a stocked trout pond just to try it out. I caught about 18 nice rainbows in the 3 to 5 pound range. My 10 foot 4 weight handled like a charm. As with most new rods, I just have to try out a couple of different lines because the one that I had did cast okay, but being a 10 foot rod, I might have to go with a 5 weight line.

Makes an amateur caster look good.
This rod has helped me tremendously with my cast. I can cast farther and more accurate and I honestly believe this is an attribute of this rod. Great rod at a great price. I will be using this one for a long time to come.

A rod that definitely backs up its flashy appearance
I purchased a 12wt Volant to compliment my blue and gunmetal (silver) Omega, and I have to tell you I was definitely impressed. A dream to cast. I definitely recommend all Allen products to my friends, and you should to.

Great Rod! Cast like a dream!
Just used my new and 2nd Volant rod a 8'6" 4wt and I love it as much as my 9' 6wt. It loads and cast so nicely, and handled a big brown with ease. I have it paired with a trout II reel - what a combo. I am going to hand down my Winston to my daughter and use the Volant from now on.

Ultimate Musky Stick
I have casted them all. This rod in the 10wt is by far the best for my application. 425gr sink tips and 12" flies. This rod is a beast and has not problems handling those conditions. The only thing I have a problem with is the hook bonnet. It is a bit small and I'm not a fan of the location because my hand rests against it. I will probably just file it off. Probably just me and should not be a deciding factor because the pros totally outweigh the cons. For the price you really cannot beat it. If you are looking for a stiff, fast action rod....... Look no further. I will soon have an 8 wt. for bass

This rod has a great feel
The rod handles very well. I got a 5 wt for the Wyoming rivers

excellent value
I was leery of color thinking it was fire engine red but it is a very classy coral. Have not fished it yet but it fits my casting stylle well. The 6wt loads nicely with a Rio Grande WF6. I will test it on the Missouri in 2 weeks after I return from fishing bone and permit in Mexico. Also, nicely finished rod for the price.

Volant 9' 6wt + Red Trout II Reel
I ordered the 9' 6 wt volant to use as a bass rod and I am totally impressed. The rod is beautifully finished and comes in a tailored rod sock with a durable rod tube. This rod casts my WF bass line like a dream with great action. The red Trout II reel not only looks good but balances the rod well, enhancing the responsiveness of the rod during the casting stoke. I'm extremely satisfied with this rod (and reel) and very impressed with the value for the price. I recommend this pairing and will purchase more in the future.
